Generator Overuse During Storm Power Cuts
Esentepe Hillside & Coastal Villas | Winter Storm Nights
During winter storms, Esentepe’s exposed position between the Beşparmak slopes and the open sea makes temporary power interruptions more likely than in inland districts. Wind pressure increases along ridgelines. Lines shift. Supply drops briefly, sometimes repeatedly within the same evening.
The exposure is not the outage itself. It is what follows.
Many villas rely on portable or semi-permanent generators. When power cuts occur after 20:00, activation often happens immediately and without staged load management. Multiple systems are switched on at once: water pumps, air conditioning units, kitchen appliances, exterior lighting.
Timing matters. Storm-related outages tend to cluster between 21:00 and 02:00, when internal lighting demand is already high and residents are indoors.
A repeated local pattern involves voltage instability during reconnection. When grid power returns, some generators are still running. The transition between independent supply and restored line power creates momentary irregular flow.
In several hillside properties, minor electrical component faults have appeared not during the storm, but in the hours after supply normalization.
This is not misuse.
It is overlap between weather exposure and simultaneous activation.
