Rooftop Water Tank Overflow After Sudden Rain
Esentepe Hillside Villas | Autumn Storm Transitions
Across the upper slopes of Esentepe, many villas rely on rooftop water tanks positioned above main living areas. These tanks are exposed directly to coastal wind and seasonal debris carried down from the Beşparmak slopes.
The exposure is rarely structural failure. It is drainage misdirection.
During long dry summers, dust accumulates along rooftop edges and within overflow channels. When the first heavy autumn storm arrives, rainfall intensity exceeds the clearing capacity of partially blocked outlets.
Timing matters. The first two significant rain events after extended dry periods carry the highest debris load. Within 30 to 60 minutes of intense rainfall, overflow begins if channels are obstructed.
A repeated local pattern occurs when water spills toward the interior side of a flat roof instead of the outer drainage line. The volume is not dramatic, but it is continuous. Moisture follows the lowest point along insulation seams and reaches ceiling corners hours later.
In several hillside homes, minor ceiling staining has appeared not during peak rain, but the following morning when trapped moisture becomes visible.
The exposure is not the storm itself.
It is the redirection of water by blocked pathways
