Steep Driveways Below the Besparmak Slopes

Many newer villas sit on sharply inclined plots carved into the hillside. The driveways are often steeper than they appear from the road. The visual reference is the sea horizon, not the gradient under the wheels.

The risk exists because gravity is constant, but perception is not. On dry summer days, vehicles manage the incline without issue. After February rain, however, dust mixed with moisture reduces tire grip on smooth concrete ramps.

Time factor: early evening returns. Around 18:00–19:30, drivers approach home tired, often entering the driveway with minimal throttle control.

One local pattern involves rollback incidents. A vehicle pauses halfway up, traction reduces, and the car rolls back several meters toward the main access road. If another vehicle is exiting downhill simultaneously, contact becomes possible within a confined space.
