Drivers beginning their descent from upper Catalkoy often feel in control. Speed remains moderate. Curves are gentle. Visibility is usually clear. The road feels open.
However, gravity alters stopping expectation subtly over distance.
A typical scenario begins on a descending residential road that feeds into the main east–west axis. The driver maintains steady throttle, then lightly releases acceleration. The vehicle continues gaining slight forward pressure due to gradient.
By the time the driver approaches the junction with the main corridor, actual speed is marginally higher than perceived.
