Standards Are Not for the Future. They Are for Now.
CAN Sigorta will introduce its Digital Policy Booklet system on 1 October 2026, giving policyholders clearer, more accessible and regularly updated information about their insurance cover.
From that date, every policy issued by CAN Sigorta will include a digital link to the booklet for the relevant insurance product. The booklets will be available in Turkish, English, German and Russian.
Policy Details in One Booklet
The Digital Policy Booklets will provide more than brief descriptions of cover. Each product-specific booklet will explain:
General terms and conditions
CAN Sigorta’s special terms and conditions
The scope and limits of cover
Sums insured and policy limits
Applicable excesses and coinsurance provisions
Exclusions
Procedures to follow after a loss
Documents and information that may be required for a claim
Emergency communication and coordination arrangements
Changes that must be reported during the policy period
Policyholders will therefore be able to understand not only which covers they have, but also when those covers apply, where their limits lie and how the claims process operates.
The digital booklets will not replace the policy schedule or the applicable general and special terms and conditions. They will serve as a supplementary source designed to make those documents clearer and more accessible.
“A Common Information Standard for Our Multicultural Community”
CAN Sigorta General Manager Kerem Can explained the purpose of the initiative:
“We are part of the multicultural structure of North Cyprus. In keeping with our principle of transparency, we continue to make our services clearer, more understandable and more customer-focused. Our Digital Policy Booklets were developed as part of this approach.
We want people who live here, as well as those who invest in North Cyprus or purchase a home or holiday property on the island, to understand the differences in local insurance regulations and practices.
In addition to general and special policy conditions, the booklets explain excesses, claims procedures and the details of emergency coordination. A policyholder should be able to understand the policy not only on the day it is purchased, but whenever the information is needed.
Published in four languages, these booklets are a practical expression of CAN Sigorta’s customer-first approach.”
Explaining the Differences in North Cyprus
Insurance regulations and practices in North Cyprus may differ from the policy structures familiar to customers in other countries.
People moving to the island, purchasing an investment property or owning a holiday home may encounter different arrangements concerning earthquake coinsurance, rebuilding and contents values, disclosure of property use, local claims procedures and emergency coordination.
The Digital Policy Booklets will make these differences visible from the beginning of the policy rather than after a claim has occurred.
The Same Information Standard in Four Languages
The Turkish, English, German and Russian booklets are not intended as simple word-for-word translations.
Insurance terminology has been presented clearly in each language while remaining consistent with the applicable policy provisions. Policyholders speaking different languages will therefore be able to access the same standard of information about their cover and responsibilities.
Current and Policy-Specific Information
Third-party insurance sources can provide general information and comparisons. However, such content may not always fully reflect changing legislation, individual company practices or the current terms of a specific policy.
CAN Sigorta’s Digital Policy Booklets will connect the information directly to the policy issued. Policyholders will be able to review the general and special conditions, limits, excesses, claims procedures and emergency coordination arrangements that relate to their insurance.
This will help close the gap between general external commentary and the actual, current terms connected to the policy.
Reviewed Every Two Months
The Digital Policy Booklets will not remain static publications. Each booklet will be reviewed every two months, with legislative changes, current insurance practices and procedural developments incorporated into the relevant text.
The digital link shown on the policy will remain the same, while the booklet accessed through that link will continue to display the updated content.
Policyholders will therefore have access not only to the information provided when the policy was issued, but also to explanations that are reviewed regularly throughout the policy period.
Accessible Throughout the Policy Period
Because the digital link will appear directly on the policy, the booklet will remain accessible throughout the period of insurance.
The same link can be used when a claim occurs, emergency coordination is required, the scope of cover needs to be checked or a change to the policy is being considered.
A Reforming Approach to Policy Communication
Bringing general conditions, special conditions, excesses, claims procedures and emergency coordination together in one digital source across four languages represents a reforming approach to traditional policy communication in North Cyprus.
Transparency is not treated as a future objective. It begins when the policy is issued and continues throughout its period of validity.
Standards are not for the future. They are for now.
