On Hamitköy Main Road, wet-road damage can begin when traffic slows near market entrances, apartment connections and short roadside stops.

The risk is more visible during the first minutes of rain. Dust and surface residue mix with water, reducing grip before drivers have adjusted their normal following distance.

At 18:15, a vehicle travels along Hamitköy Main Road.

The vehicle ahead slows near a roadside entrance.

The following driver begins braking.

The wet surface extends the stopping distance.

The remaining space closes.

Contact occurs.

Damage may affect the rear bumper and lower trim of the vehicle ahead. The following vehicle may also sustain damage around the front bumper, grille and number-plate area.

The defining factor is not speed alone.

It is maintaining a dry-road distance after the surface has already changed.

The local damage pattern is usually consistent:

Rain begins.

The road surface becomes less predictable.

The vehicle ahead slows.

Braking distance increases.

Damage to the other vehicle occurs.

In this type of incident, the vehicle positions, braking sequence, road condition and contact areas help explain how the damage developed. The first impact usually forms along the front–rear axis because the available following distance has become insufficient.

This local risk is examined within the Hamitköy Traffic Insurance Guide. Wider liability risks across Nicosia are covered by the Nicosia Traffic Insurance Guide, while island-wide third-party risks are addressed in the North Cyprus Traffic Insurance Guide. Damage caused to the vehicle ahead is assessed under the applicable terms and limits of North Cyprus Third-Party Insurance.

On Hamitköy Main Road, wet-road rear damage often begins not during prolonged heavy rain, but in the first minutes when the surface has changed and the following distance has not.
